How to get FREE tax for an extra year on your EV

Currently, electric vehicle owners are exempt from paying car tax. This is about to change. The government have announced that vehicle tax for electric, zero or low emissions is changing as of 1st April 2025

How to tax your EV for free for an extra year?

According to moneysavingexpert.com EV owners whose cars were first registered on or after 1st April 2017 should re-tax their vehicles before 1st April 2025.

This will push back the deadline for when you need to pay tax on your EV to when you are next due to renew it.

It doesn't matter if you are not due to tax your vehicle yet, you can re-tax your car any time using your car registration number and your V5C Logbook. 

How much will my EV cost to tax after 1st April?

To get an accurate price of how much your vehicle will cost to tax, it's recommended that you check the government website. 

It was always inevitable that electric vehicle were going to be taxed. This change will affect many electric vehicle owners in the UK.
