How Scottish Vauxhall Sales Turned Multiple Dealer Sites into One Growth Platform.
Autoweb Design was appointed to bring those legacy websites together into one clear group website. The goal was to give customers a single place to explore the group’s brands, vehicles, offers and locations, while giving Regency Car Sales a stronger platform for growth.

A website that better represents the group — today and for what comes next
“We’ve just launched our new website with Autoweb Design, and we couldn’t be happier with the result! The team were fantastic to work with from start to finish — professional, creative, and genuinely focused on looking after their customers. They understood our vision perfectly and delivered a site that not only looks great but performs brilliantly too. Highly recommend Autoweb Design to anyone looking for a top-class website and a team that truly goes the extra mile.” — Scottish Vauxhall
The Regency Car Sales project shows the value of treating a dealer-group website as more than a collection of pages. By bringing multiple legacy domains together into one connected Autoweb platform, the group now has a clearer customer experience, a more manageable digital estate and a stronger foundation for growth.
The solution continues to benefit Regency Car Sales because it is built for ongoing improvement. As the group develops new offers, stock, locations and campaigns, its teams can improve the website from one central platform — while retaining the local and franchise relevance customers expect.
A fragmented web presence was holding back a joined-up group experience
The starting point was a collection of legacy websites that no longer reflected Regency Car Sales as one connected dealer group. Customers could encounter different journeys, different content structures and different entry points depending on where they began. For the business, maintaining several sites made it harder to keep content consistent and to build improvements around the whole customer journey.
There was also a clear visibility opportunity around Vauxhall. The previous Vauxhall website — built on another well-known automotive platform — was poorly optimised, particularly in its technical SEO and local relevance. Vauxhall dealership and location pages were not fully mapped to the searches customers were making, leaving valuable brand-and-location visibility exposed to competitors.
|
The problem |
What Regency Car Sales needed |
|
Multiple legacy websites |
One recognisable group website that brings brands, locations and customer journeys together. |
|
Inconsistent customer routes |
Clear pathways from search or browsing to the most relevant dealership, vehicle or offer. |
|
Complexity for marketing teams |
A simpler way to manage content, stock, offers and campaigns across the group. |
|
Under-optimised Vauxhall visibility |
A stronger technical and page structure to support Vauxhall brand and location searches. |
A single platform built around the group and the customer
Autoweb Design created one joined-up Regency Car Sales website, designed to represent the group clearly while preserving the identity of its brands and dealerships. The new information architecture gave every important journey a logical home: group-level content, brand pages, vehicle pages, offers, locations and individual dealerships.
The solution combined bespoke website design with a flexible content management platform, vehicle and offer management capability, and an SEO-led migration plan. This meant the site could be easier for customers to use from launch and easier for the Regency Car Sales team to develop after launch.
|
Autoweb Design approach |
Why it mattered |
|
One group website |
Created a single digital home for the full Regency Car Sales proposition. |
|
Clear brand and location structure |
Helped customers and search engines understand the relationship between the group, its franchises and its local dealerships. |
|
Migration and redirect planning |
Mapped legacy pages and useful routes into the new site so change did not mean losing hard-won value. |
|
Flexible CMS and content tools |
Gave the team the practical ability to update pages, offers, imagery and campaigns without unnecessary development dependency. |
|
SEO opportunity programme |
Established a stronger foundation for Vauxhall, franchise and local dealership visibility. |
Delivered as a collaborative migration, not just a website launch
The project was delivered through close collaboration between the Regency Car Sales team and Autoweb Design. The work began by understanding the existing websites, customer journeys and high-value search visibility, then moved into planning the group structure, migrating key content and preparing the new platform for launch.
|
Stage |
What Autoweb Design and Regency Car Sales worked through |
|
Discovery and planning |
Reviewed legacy domains, business structure, core customer journeys, brand requirements and the Vauxhall visibility opportunity. |
|
Group website design |
Created a coherent structure for brands, locations, dealerships, vehicles and offers, with the customer journey at the centre. |
|
Migration preparation |
Mapped key pages and routes, planned redirects and prepared the content, stock and offer experience for the new group site. |
|
Launch and optimisation |
Launched the new website, monitored visibility and created a platform for continuous improvement across the group. |
A stronger platform — with protected and improved visibility
The new website gave Regency Car Sales a single group platform to manage its digital presence, rather than several separate legacy websites. Customers now have a clearer route to the right franchise, vehicle, offer or local dealership, while the team has a more joined-up foundation for future marketing and website development.

This is especially important in the context of the Vauxhall opportunity identified before launch. By moving the legacy Vauxhall content into a better-organised group site and giving brand and location pages a clearer purpose, Regency Car Sales now has a more robust base from which to compete for the searches it should own.

How Palmers Motor Group Moved to a More Flexible Digital Platform
Palmers Motor Company is a privately owned automotive retailer operating from Hemel Hempstead and Watford. The business represents 11 vehicle manufacturers.
That breadth makes the website central to the customer experience. It must serve multiple brands, locations, offers, vehicle journeys and aftersales needs, while still giving every visitor a clear and confident route to the next step.

A better way to book — and a future-proof platform.
The Palmers project demonstrates that a large migration does not need to mean compromising the customer experience or losing hard-won visibility. With the right preparation, Palmers moved from a rigid platform to a more flexible website while keeping its organic footprint stable across the comparable keyword cohort.
The interactive service-booking journey now gives customers a more useful experience at the moment it matters: they can see current availability and accurate pricing rather than completing a static form and waiting for follow-up. For the Palmers team, the new platform also creates a more practical foundation for improving customer journeys and building visibility across a wide range of brands and locations.
A rigid platform was limiting customer journeys and future growth
Palmers had spent several years on another established automotive platform, but its template-led structure had become increasingly restrictive. The website was difficult to adapt around the varied needs of a large, multi-brand retailer, limiting the team’s ability to create the journeys and experiences customers now expect.
The existing service-booking journey illustrated the problem clearly. It was a long, basic form that asked customers to submit their details without giving the interactive guidance, live availability or pricing confidence needed for a strong aftersales experience.
There was also a significant organic-search opportunity. Existing keyword mapping did not consistently connect the right pages with the right model, brand, location and service searches. With a website of this size and brand breadth, the migration required meticulous planning: every important URL and customer route had to move safely while creating room to improve visibility after launch.
|
The problem |
What Palmers needed |
|
Highly restrictive, template-based platform |
A website flexible enough to serve a large multi-brand business and evolving customer expectations. |
|
Basic service-booking form |
A simple, guided booking journey with up-to-date availability and accurate pricing. |
|
Poor keyword mapping |
A clearer structure that could support brand, model, local and service search visibility. |
|
Large, high-risk web estate |
A careful migration that protected established rankings, routes and customer trust. |
A flexible platform — with service booking designed around real customer needs.
Autoweb Design created a new Palmers Motor Company website that could support the scale of the group while giving each brand, offer, location and customer journey a clearer role. The new platform replaced restrictive template constraints with a structure designed for continued improvement and a more intuitive experience.
At the heart of the aftersales transformation was an interactive service-booking wizard. Instead of asking customers to complete a long form and wait for a response, the journey guides them through the booking process and connects with Palmers’ dealer management system to show current appointment availability and accurate pricing. This creates a clearer, more confident route from service need to confirmed booking.
|
Autoweb Design solution |
Why it mattered |
|
Flexible multi-brand website platform (Studio) |
Created a website structure capable of serving Palmers’ many brands, locations, offers and customer journeys. |
|
Interactive service-booking wizard |
Replaced a long, static form with a guided digital experience designed to reduce friction. |
|
Live dealer-management-system connection |
Gave customers current appointment availability and accurate pricing when they book. |
|
SEO-led page and keyword mapping |
Created clearer relationships between pages and the brand, model, local and aftersales searches they need to serve. |
|
Comprehensive migration programme |
Protected high-value URLs and ranking signals across a large, complex website while creating a stronger foundation for future growth. |
A controlled migration designed around customers, systems and search visibility
The project was delivered as a carefully managed transformation rather than a simple platform replacement. Autoweb Design worked with Palmers to understand the different customer journeys across its brands and locations, the role of service booking and the size of the existing organic footprint before moving the site to its new platform.
|
Stage |
What Palmers and Autoweb Design worked through |
|
Discovery and migration planning |
Audited the large multi-brand web estate, identified important customer routes and prioritised high-value existing URLs and visibility. |
|
Journey and platform design |
Built a more flexible website architecture and designed the service-booking wizard around the information customers need to make a booking. |
|
Systems integration and migration |
Connected the service journey to dealer-management-system availability and pricing, while mapping and moving content and URLs carefully. |
|
Launch and optimisation |
Validated migration stability, monitored search performance and established a stronger structure for ongoing brand, local and aftersales SEO work. |
A major migration delivered without a measurable aggregate ranking drop.
For a multi-brand website of this scale, maintaining organic visibility through a platform migration was a critical success measure. The pre-migration and post-migration ranking reports showed that key visibility brackets were maintained or strengthened across the keyword cohort.
